Monica Quirk is a Family and Consumer Science teacher at Lurgio Middle School. The students of her 8th grade classes had the idea to use resources from the King Arthur Flour program, “Bake For Good” to raise money for the Ukrainian effort. As a result of their bake sale, they were able to purchase $278.69 worth of supplies for Ukrainian refugees donated through Bedford Cares. King Arthur donated all the flour and yeast through their program.

They purchased:

1-6 gallon water jug
6 blankets (including 2 baby blankets)
3 large first aid kits
6 hats (toddler and adult)
3 packages of warm socks (adult, teen, and toddler)
1 adult sleeping bag
1 blow up mattress with pump
1 toddler cot

Thank you Monica, students and King Arthur!
